LODGE INSURANCE – INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR LODGES, RESORTS
America’s Most Comprehensive Lodge & Resort Insurance Provider
The team at Wister understands resorts & lodges do not fit into one category, which means our 100+ years of executive insurance experience is your biggest ally. Whether it is a destination spa resort or fishing or hunting lodge insurance, we have coverage to insure them all.
We Identify, Customize, and Deliver Insurance for Lodges & Resorts
Resorts often attract recreational enthusiasts, so unique amenity offerings are common such as horseback riding, shooting sports, and boating. As well as onsite tennis, golf, marinas, and more. Each offering brings its own property and casualty exposure, so customization is the key. Let Wister get to know your unique resort or lodge and provide a custom-fit solution today.
Fishing, Hunting Lodge Insurance For Comprehensive Liability
Amenity and recreational opportunities at resorts & lodges bring a high degree of liability exposure. Many insurance providers will exclude certain ‘bodily injury’ exposure on and off the resort or lodge property.
A simple example would be a hunting lodges or a fishing guide. In most cases, the fishing or hunting lodges would need to be added as additionally insured onto your policy for coverage to be extended. If this is missed or overlooked and a serious injury occurred to a guest while being guided, you may have no protection against a ‘bodily injury’ lawsuit.
Let Wister review your current coverage, help educate you on potential gaps in coverage, and deliver our best insurance solution for your resort or lodge.
A Single Insurance Policy to Cover Both Personal & Commercial Use of Your Resort or Lodge.
A Single Policy to Cover Both Personal & Commercial Use of Your Resort or Lodge
Many resort & lodge owners call their property home and it is considered their primary residence. In the past, it was common to manage two separate insurance policies, one for personal exposure, and one for commercial exposure of your resort or lodge.
Over 30 years ago, Wister executives developed the first hybrid commercial insurance policy to address this issue. To this day resort & lodge insurance carriers across the U.S. have modeled their programs after this dual or hybrid insurance concept.

Comprehensive Property Insurance for Resorts & Lodges Should Not Be Overlooked
With so much focus on causality or liability policies, some resort & lodge owners overlook or do not fully understand how important it is to have supplemental or a comprehensive property policy. Property insurance protects your building(s), contents, and income from perils such as fire, wind and hail, theft, water damage and so much more.
Special Form: What Wister offers is labeled special form or an exclusion-based coverage form. What this means is everything is covered unless it is specifically excluded. A few standard exclusions include wear and tear, intentional damage, earth movement, flood, fraud, war, and a few more.
However, special form coverage is far superior versus named perils for a bed & breakfast (B&B) property owner. Not one named peril is excluded, and you receive coverage for things such as spillage of paint or wine, or wild animal damage, as again, if it is not excluded, then it is covered!
Insurance Coverage Options for Resorts & Lodges
With every resort & hunting lodge, the property and amenities are different, so it is critical to have insurance coverage options. We see properties that offer guide services, spas, yoga classes, watersports, and everything in between. Wister wants to make sure your insurance plan is fit for your unique resort or lodge business.
